Until now, vocabulary practice on Linguin worked one way: you'd see a word and choose its meaning.
Now you can practice the other way around.
Instead of starting with the word, you'll read a short definition and choose the matching word from three options. It's closer to the feeling of searching for a word that's on the tip of your tongue.
The wrong answers aren't random. They're real words that could reasonably fit, so getting the right answer means you actually recognized the word, not just the obvious outlier.
You can choose this exercise from the setup screen, along with your language and difficulty level.
If you're using a keyboard, press 1, 2, or 3 to answer. You can also move through the options with the arrow keys and press Enter to select one.
If you have an account, the experience becomes more personal. Linguin builds your practice from the words you look up, the words that come up in your conversations, and the ones you're still learning.
Give the new exercise a try. No account required.
