Auto mode for the color theme

17 July 2026
The theme toggle now has an Auto mode. Set it once, and Linguin switches between light and dark throughout the day for you.

The theme toggle has a new option: Auto.

Until now, you could choose between light and dark mode. If you preferred one during the day and the other at night, you had to remember to switch between them yourself.

Auto takes care of that.

Choose it from the theme toggle in the header, and Linguin switches between light and dark based on your local time. Leave a page open into the evening, and it changes automatically without needing a refresh.

When Auto is enabled, a small A appears on the theme icon, so it's always clear whether the current theme was chosen by you or by the clock. And if you'd rather stay in one mode, switching back to light or dark is just one tap away.

Like the other theme options, your choice is remembered, so Linguin keeps using it the next time you visit.

It's a small change, but one less thing to think about.
