Sharper definitions across the dictionary

20 July 2026
Dictionary definitions are now clearer, more direct, and reviewed more carefully for accuracy.

Every definition in the Linguin dictionary has been updated to make it easier to understand at a glance.

The one-line summary beneath each word now starts with the meaning itself. Some definitions used to begin with phrases like "It refers to..." or "This term..." before getting to the point. Those introductions are gone, so the first thing you read is the definition.

Definitions have also been reviewed more carefully against trusted sources to better reflect how words are actually used. When a word has multiple meanings, related senses are now grouped under the main one instead of appearing as a long, flat list, making entries much easier to scan.

Searching works exactly as before. Just look up a word, and you'll find a cleaner, clearer entry waiting for you.

Try looking up a word and see the difference.
