The gender part is doing a lot of work. Some people read it as harmless ironic 2023 meme language, same family as boy math or the Roman Empire jokes. Other people hear the older stereotype hiding inside it, women eat tiny cute food and men eat real dinner. So if you use it around people who missed the meme, dont be surprised if it lands weird.

UK people already had picky bits for the same kind of plate, cheese, crackers, hummus, random fridge things. Girl dinner feels more TikTok and self-aware, picky bits is more just what my mum calls it.

Tone matters with this one. Girl dinner can be affectionate, like yay I dont have to cook, but if the plate is just three grapes and iced coffee people will read it as diet-culture bait, not cute slang.
