In Minecraft, Smite is not a general stronger sword word. It is the enchantment for extra damage to undead mobs, so it helps on zombies/skeletons/wither stuff, not creepers or spiders. gamers learn the word from that and then overuse smited lol

i would be careful with "was smitten by X" in new fantasy prose. It is correct, but half the room hears crush first. "struck down" avoids the accidental joke
